We're looking for an experienced and confident Payroll Manager to join a well-established manufacturing business in Derby. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in running a smooth and accurate payroll, and wants to be a trusted expert within the business.
You'll be responsible for overseeing payroll for around 1,000 employees, supported by a knowledgeable and capable team. With a hybrid working setup and a welcoming culture, this is the ideal role for someone looking to take full ownership of payroll.
What You'll Be Doing
- Running the end-to-end payroll process (weekly and monthly) for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Supporting, guiding, and working closely with a dedicated payroll team.
- Acting as the go-to person for payroll queries and advice across the business.
- Working with SAP to maintain accurate payroll records and reports.
- Liaising with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Leading on small projects to improve processes and implement updates when needed.
- Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and making sure everything stays compliant.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a payroll management role
- Comfortable working independently and managing a regular payroll cycle.
- Good working knowledge of SAP payroll systems (essential).
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, pensions, and statutory processes.
- A friendly, approachable attitude and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues at all levels.
- Organised, detail-focused, and happy taking ownership.
Nice to Have
- CIPP qualification or similar
- Experience working with unionised or multi-site teams
