Ashley Kate HR & Finance are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an organised and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join their team on a fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to support a major payroll project focused on the implementation of Payroll Benefits in Kind (PBIK), working alongside payroll and project stakeholders to ensure a successful rollout.


As Payroll Administrator, you will provide key support throughout the implementation lifecycle, assisting with payroll testing, data validation, reporting, documentation, and business readiness activities. You'll work closely with the Payroll Project Manager and wider payroll team to ensure payroll processes remain accurate, compliant, and ready for a seamless transition into business-as-usual operations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Support payroll project workshops, meetings, and stakeholder discussions.
  • Document business requirements, process changes, actions, and key decisions.
  • Assist with payroll data analysis, validation, and reconciliations.
  • Support System Integration Testing (SIT), Parallel Runs, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Log, monitor, and track testing defects through to resolution.
  • Validate payroll calculations and outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Produce project reports, governance documentation, and progress updates.
  • Support training materials, communications, and business readiness activities.
  • Assist with the successful transition of project deliverables into BAU processes.
  • Work collaboratively with payroll, HR, and project stakeholders throughout the implementation.

We're Looking for Someone Who Is:

  • Experienced in payroll administration.
  • Knowledgeable in UK payroll legislation and payroll processes.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Analytical and confident working with payroll data.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to build relationships across teams.
  • Proactive and able to work independently while contributing to team success.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous payroll administration experience.
  • Good understanding of UK payroll legislation.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience supporting payroll projects, system implementations, or business process improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using SAP ECC Payroll

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting payroll transformation or change programmes.
  • CIPP qualification, or currently working towards one.
