Ashley Kate are supporting a respected organisation in this sector to recruit a Customer Training Manager. This a critical role responsible for leading an established team of technical trainers, overseeing training operations, and driving commercial performance.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines technical credibility with strong people leadership and commercial awareness.

Based on site. Salary £60k - £70k dependant on experience.

As the Customer Training Manager, you will take ownership of the end‑to‑end customer training function, ensuring training delivery is technically robust, well‑planned and financially sound.

  • You will lead, coach and develop a team of technical training instructors and external training partners.
  • Manage recruitment, performance, engagement and capability development.
  • Create a supportive, high‑performance culture centred around quality and customer experience.
  • Oversee the design, development, delivery and certification of technical training courses.
  • Ensure all training content is accurate, up-to-date and aligned with engineering/manufacturing requirements.
  • Manage resource planning, scheduling and training commitments across the function.
  • Develop and maintain training procedures, delivery standards and compliance requirements.
  • Establish and track KPIs to measure training performance, effectiveness and service quality.
  • Ensure continuous improvement through feedback, data and operational insight.

A key part of this role is ensuring the training function delivers value and contributes positively to the business. You will:

  • Work closely with the commercial team on pricing, proposals and commercial agreements.
  • Manage procurement spend relating to training suppliers, materials, facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure accurate cost control and efficient use of resources.
  • Support P&L contribution by monitoring revenue streams, recovery rates and profitability targets.
  • Ensure all invoicing and financial processes relating to training activity are completed accurately and on time.
  • Act as the point of contact for customer, colleague and supplier feedback.
  • Maintain strong relationships across engineering, operations, commercial and service teams.
  • Champion an excellent customer training experience and continuously improve training effectiveness.

Customer Training Manager - About You

We're looking for a capable leader with a blend of technical, operational and commercial strengths. You will bring:

  • Experience managing a training team, training organisation or technical training systems.
  • Background in engineering or manufacturing environments absolutely essential.
  • Proven experience leading people, processes, resource planning and training activity.
  • Strong understanding of procurement spend, cost management and commercial decision-making.
  • Experience contributing to or managing P&L performance in a training or technical services context.
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional quality and customer experience.
